Our Story
Dan and I have experienced quite the whirlwind of events in the ten years we have been together. From creating music on our trombones, to facing terrible loss, welcoming new kiddos to the family, and now packing up our backpacks and heading to the opposite side of the world. We have experienced many different seasons together and look forward to many more years of adventure!

Our story begins in the hallways of the Albany High School when two awkward fifteen-year-old freshman began to create a friendship. We both played trombone and spent a lot of time playing in the pep band at sporting events. Eventually, Dan decided trombone was not for him, but the sparks of our friendship could not be ignored and throughout high school our relationship continued to grow and flourish.

After high school came college... I entered the CSB nursing program without a clue of what I was getting myself into. Dan entered a construction program and completely crushed it! Luckily, Dan is very patient and stayed by my side even during the craziness and stress of nursing school.
This season brought some unexpected hardship to my family. My brother was unexpectedly killed and this tragedy is something that has changed us forever. Fortunately, Dan was once again a rock star and quite literally my rock through all of it. Our faith and many prayers got us through a very difficult time. We will always remember and honor our brother Leo and he is a lot of the motivation behind what we are doing today.

After four very rough years, I finally graduated nursing school and found myself in the role of a new young professional. Dan had been working for quite some time so did not have a lot of sympathy for me and my struggles of working 40 hours a week as a new nurse. Slowly, I got the hang of things and began to love my new role.

During all of the different seasons of our relationship, Dan and I have always found the most comfort enjoying the outdoors. We developed a love for camping, hiking, kayaking, and essentially anything that gets us outside to enjoy God's creation.

Fast forward (Many) years and you will find us at Gooseberry Falls with Dan on one knee and (finally) asking me to marry him! Dan is not the only patient one in this relationship after all! We were married on an incredibly hot but beautiful June summer day. We decided to make our honeymoon destination Alaska! This was an incredible trip filled with insane hikes, glacial trekking, zip-lining and so much more! After 2 weeks we were not ready to come home. We decided we need to travel more because life is short and there is a lot of beauty that we are missing out on!

Several months later and here we are! Trading our house for a camper van, our closets for a backpack, and our jobs for some adventure! Our goal is to travel all of New Zealand via a camper van. We truly have no agenda and will see where things take us!

God (and our guardian angel Leo) have really helped everything fall into place and we are so thankful and blessed to have the opportunity to do something like this! Thank you for joining us on this adventure, we are excited to share our experiences with you!
